Sailor Moon draws from the legend of the bunny on the moon.  But what about the Monty Python bunny from the dark side of the moon?

Back in the 1990s I was perusing the now-defunct “Compleat Sailor Moon CD List” when I came across this scan from the CD booklet from the “memorial album” of the third Sailor Moon live-action musical^[1].  It's the contents page, featuring Takeda Keiko武田惠子 as “Sailor Saturn,” misspelled as “Sailor Satan.”

What we have here is Engrish caused by an attempt to reverse a Japanese phoneticization back into English:  Saturn phoneticises into Japanese as sataanサターン (“sah-taahn”), and when going back to English, the typographer found the incorrect match to what sounds like “sataan”^[2].

When I saw that typo I wondered what Sailor Satan might look like and got the idea to draw her!  (I meant to give her big, bull-like devil horns, but somehow ended up drawing little pointy ones instead.)
