I Refuse to Manage Wendy's

When we dream we usually don't recognize that we're dreaming, no matter how ridiculous the scenario may be.  But have you ever had a dream that was so distressing that you actually woke yourself up to get out of the dream?

A long time ago I had a dream that I was on a military base that was under attack from mystical monsters. When they eventually breached the compound, I was so frightened that I decided to wake myself up, which took a moment of intentional actions within the dream.

A couple years ago I dreamed that I was working at Wendy's, which was odd because it was McDonald's that I once worked at, and whenever I have fast-food dreams they're usually about McDonald's.  I was a swing manager for two years, and whenever I dream about that, it's usually during rush hour with a full lobby, a backed-up drive-through, and customers not getting their orders.  Those kinds of dreams always cause restless sleep.

Anyway, I dreamed that I was managing a Wendy's store.  Probably influenced by recent news of fast-food chain cutbacks due to a combination of Bidenflation, economics-ignorant wage laws, and corporate greed, I dreamed I was one of only two employees on duty.  Because of the situation, I needed to lock the doors before anybody entered the lobby so that I could channel all customers through the drive-through.  Before I could, however, several customers burst in and filled the lobby and started placing orders.

I immediately began to feel stressed.  Right away I decided I wasn't going to tolerate such a distressing dream, and surprisingly quickly I woke myself up.

I had no more fast-food dreams that night.
