Sharing Interests In Class

Publié:

Throughout my education I had some teachers or professors who, at the beginning of the course, would encourage each member of the class to introduce him- or herself and maybe mention some interests.

When we did this in one of my computer science classes in college, I said, “I like to watch foreign films.”

We moved on to the next person, and then another student interrupted him and said to me, “Wait a minute!  Did you just say you like to watch pоrո films?”

I clarified that I hadn't, and that I'd said “for-eign films.”

I was glad we got that cleared up as the professor also said he thought he'd heard the other thing and was really surprised that I'd be so open about that kind of hobby.

Funny side note:  The student that asked for clarification was the same guy that later in the semester admitted to squatting on a misspelled Google domain, which he had operated as a pоrո site and eventually sold to Google.  He also claimed to know the parking attendant's routine and said he never bought a parking pass but avoided getting a ticket by moving his car every hour.  I don't know how that worked out for him, but he stopped coming to class after a while and was the “did nothing” member of my group project.
